Carman Moore and The Skymusic Ensemble

 SKYMUSIC, INC.

As its for-profit companion organization The Skymusic Corporation comes into being, the following is a brief account of the non-profit production company Skymusic, Inc. Skymusic, Inc. was founded in New York City in1980 by its music director, principal composer, and CEO Carman L. Moore as a U.S. Government-sanctioned, tax-exempt (501c3) producing entity with the mission of presenting concerts and recordings of excellence for the public. With its main focus on presentations by the world-class electro-acoustic Skymusic Ensemble and its multi-media collaborators, Skymusic, Inc. has produced exemplary work world-wide. As Mr. Moore and the Ensemble have been Artists-in-Residence at the Cathedral of St. John the Divine in New York City since 1988, many Skymusic, Inc. productions have taken place there. But many others have taken place at such venues as Lincoln Center for the Performing Arts, the United Nations, La Scala Opera House in Milan, Italy, the Hotel de Ville in Geneva, Switzerland, and the Guggenheim Museum and Central Park in New York. In the course of those productions the organization has been involved with such artists as the late choreographer Alvin Ailey, Kitaro, Paul Winter, L. Subramaniam, the Cleo Parker Robinson Dance Company, the Ballet Company of La Scala, and the American Tap Dance Orchestra to name a few. Contributors to the non-profit Skymusic, Inc.'s productions have included Robert Redford, Mike Stoller, A.S.C.A.P., Leonard Marks, the Rockefeller Foundation, the National Endowment for the Arts, the New York State Council on the Arts, the Whitney Houston Foundation for Children, and Lincoln Center for the Performing Arts. Tasks successfully carried out by Skymusic, Inc. have included fund raising and book keeping, locating of venues, travel and housing of artists, video and sound recording, rentals of musical instruments and other gear, and negotiations with artists, venues, governmental agencies, and collaborating producers. Skymusic, Inc. is known to have executed all these with care and consideration of all parties concerned.
